Meeting people like Jacob is why we work to keep the cafe's spirit alive.

Hello Chaz,

Meeting with you and your staff was definitely a high point on my trip through the midwest. Just a quick recap on how I found you. Sometime last year, I typed in "B-29" in Google maps to see what would come up. I was expecting museums or maybe even a commemorative statue. Instead "B-29 Cafe" showed up in the search. I pinned the location and waited for the first chance that came. Well this month we happened to be passing by so we stopped in. The atmosphere and food were phenomenal. It is rare when the combination is that good.

With everyone coming in for dinner, I wasn't able to get the best photos or video without disturbing anyone. However, in November I have plans for another trip to Missouri and am planning on stopping by. Perhaps we can try again with the footage?

Why my interest? I have always heard stories of the B-29 from my grandmother while growing up. It was always one of my favorite planes. I never knew my grandfather. A little over a year ago I was going through some family boxes when I came across the 2 photos I showed you. That night and the following months I researched and tracked every flight and mission he went on in the Pacific. Eventually I came to an ending point in his story. The only way for me to continue was for me to get on a B-29 myself. Last month, I had that opportunity, and drove up to Chattanooga to get a Flight on Fifi. I still can't find the words to describe it.

I have several pictures I want to send you. The first are pictures of my grandfather and his crew, along with his plane "20th Century Sweetheart". The last picture is me flying on Fifi almost 80 years later. They will go out in the mail this week.

Thank you for the shirt, and taking the time to talk with us. I felt lucky we showed up at a time that you were there. This has been a very memorable trip, and I thank you for adding to that. I hope we can cross paths again, later this year.

Regards,

-Jacob Baldwin
